In this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Li et al. (pp. 847–856) demonstrate that a subset of gut-resident mononuclear phagocytes mediates gut-lung-directed immunity to aggravate allergic airway disease when intestinal fungal commensals are disturbed. The cover design is an intrepretation of fungal dysbiosis with an expansion of filamentous fungi that aggravates the symptoms of allergic airway disease through gut-lung crosstalk. Xiaoli Wang and Jennifer Conrad created the cover artwork.
